SEO Silo: Your Ultimate SEO Tool to Boost Your Websites and Blogs Ranking II   3 comments

In our last post we discussed about SEO silo and its benefits for your website and blogs. Siloing is simply theming your website and blogs in such a way that search engines when visit your websites they can clearly see what you are offering and your field of expertise. Many SEO’s and of course including me believes that SEO Siloing is an advance and the crucial Search Engine Optimization technique to boost your rankings in Google and other major search engines but unfortunately is also one highly ignored subject that is often the reason for your SEO campaign and online marketing to fail even after investing your sincere effort, time and money into your e-business. Hence, in today’s post, I will be talking about the types of Silo’s and how they are done.

SEO Silo Types:

Generally, silos are of two types which are widely used by SEO’s and recommended.

ü Physical Directory Silo.

ü Virtual Silo.

Physical Directory Silo and Virtual Silo are both highly effective Silo types proposed in Search Engine Optimization because it simply creates a clean environment in your website and blogs for search engines to crawl and visit every corner of your website without any hindrances and confusion and it also true with your visitors. With a confused visitors you cannot expect a frequent visit neither you can expect better conversions. Similarly, with a confused crawl of search engine robots you cannot expect better ranking and placement in SERP.

Thus, Siloing is very essential for any website or blogs and with the mentioned Siloing types and its process I hope you will be able to shut down all your loop holes of your website and implement effective SEO in your e-business.

Ø Physical Directory Silo:

Directory Siloing is the simple method of themeing your website under a definite grouping and managing content of one major heading under one directory and managing other in its belonging directory. So, the visitors and search engines can easily find them without any hassle. Your content can be anything like your text files, audios, videos etc.

For instance, if your website sells guitar then all you have to do is to create a directory called “Fender Guitars” and under that directory you will be listing all the necessary contents that relates to Fender guitar. After this, you will be creating another directory for “Les Paul Guitar” and same as above you should place all the necessary content that relates to les Paul guitar. Now, when the search engines will crawl your website it will crawl your first directory where it can find only the contents related to Fender Guitar and nothing else and even your visitors will find everything well managed in one directory so it simply cuts the hassle of looking same thing in other places of your website.

Now, when the web suffers makes the query of Fender Guitar the search engines will simply produce your Fender guitar directory at first because it thinks that the directory of your website contains so many files related to Fender guitar and without any dilutes that it should be the best answer to the searchers query. Furthermore, if your competitor has poor Silo and diluted one then you will simply pop out before his/her website because you stand strong with your subject and with no dilutes.

This is also one strong reason why a website with 4/10 page ranks stands on the 4th page of Google SERP while the page with 3/10 appears in the first page. Search engines doesn’t always calculates your website contents value with the page rank you have got but the information and its management because page rank doesn’t satisfies the searchers query but a relevant content will.

But, what if you want to or need to link between these two different directories? How can that be done without diluting the content for search engines and visitors?

Now, to solve that problem, let us assume that you want to link these two directories because a page under fender guitar directory talks about the les Paul guitar makings because they are two great guitars and use by same artist Jimmy Page. The only way to link between these two completely different directories without diluting the theme of your website to the search engines is linking fender guitar’s page (that particular page) to the les Paul guitar landing page.

So, in this way search engines will simply know the clear theme of your website and nothing diluted even if linked from one directory to another. This is one of the best ways of Siloing your website for search engines and even for users and every SEO’s refers when it comes to smooth crawling of search engine spiders.

Remember: Your each directory needs at least five written text content to support that particular directory. It’s simply like creating a strong base for that directory. If you don’t have one means you are simply making a tower with a weak base and you there is always the risk of crumbling down. Similarly, it’s very important that you don’t go too deep with the links but create every page just two to three clicks away from the main landing page. SEO’s believe that linking too deep means the pages that are listed below will have less value in search engines so don’t practice such.

Virtual Silo:

Virtual Silo is another important way of siloing your website to boost your SEO efforts and is very similar to the directory silo. The only reason why these two different siloing practices vary from one another is because in directory silo you will be interacting with physical directories of your website and moving one files to another directory where it belongs. But, in virtual you do nothing but link one page to another that lies in the same directory.

In virtual SEO Siloing all the content of your website will be in one directory but what you do here is to link all the contents with its relevant pages and not something that has nothing to do with the linking content.

For instance, you will keep all the contents of Fender guitar and Les Paul guitar in one directory where there are subcategories and other subpages that holds the information about both Fender guitar and Les Paul so here you will simply link Les Paul guitar content to all the other contents that holds the information of Les Paul guitar and not even a single file that talks about Fender guitar. And in the same way you will be linking all the Fender guitar contents to all other files that talks about fender and not les Paul. All this linking will be done under one single directory. And finally, the Fender guitar linked content will be linking to the Fender content landing page and Les Paul guitar linked content will be linking to the Les Paul guitar landing page.

Now, let us suppose that you need to link a content of Fender guitar with the content of Les Paul guitar now in this case what you not going to do is link these two different content with one another directly rather you will simply link that Fender guitar content page to the landing page of Les Paul guitar. In this way virtual Siloing will hugely help your SEO efforts and boost your ranking and placements.

I usually suggest directory Siloing if you are just launching a new website because directory Siloing can help you make your works easy and search any particular content because you already know the folder by its name. But, if you have a launched website with lots of files and contents that are mixed and unorganized than making directory and separating them will be the job hassle. Thus, virtual Siloing will be your easy SEO Siloing technique.

I hope this post will successfully help you to have a clear idea of SEO effective Siloing process for your website and cuts all the confusion of Siloing.
