SEO Tips on Effective Keyword and Key-Phrases Optimization for Search Engines   3 comments

SEO is a famous term among webmasters, but the implementation of Search Engine Optimization is still least. Yesterday, I came across some web designers-web owners who have been working in this field of web and graphic design since 2003, but what surprised me was they are aware of SEO—the term—but the meaning is still vague to them and SEO implementation is out of the question.

Well, it is not a surprising story because there are many web designers and some are professional, who hardly cares what SEO really stands for. However, I drew some odd faces of SEO for them and they were even more surprise to know the correlation of SEO and Web design.

keyword-density-how-to-calculate

Thus, in this post, I thought of looking back to some SEO basic, but what really made me write on keyword density and its prominence is when I found on my blog analytics, that someone reached to my blog and left out because he/she was looking for some valuable contents on “method of calculation of keyword density”. Hence, to avoid such things to happen in future and add some basic of SEO to web designers and content writers, I clarify everything here:

  • Keyword Density:

One effective and must do SEO optimization on your content is the optimization of your keyword density. In simple words, keyword density is the percentage calculation of your keywords and key-phrases in relation to the volume of your content. In addition, this is one strong clue for Google and search engines to determine the theme of your website. Search engines are human made robots and they cannot read and perceive like human mind. However, these robots are calculative and such calculations help search engines to classify web contents and its theme for proper indexing process.

Keyword Density Calculation:

Let us suppose, an article on Data Recovery is of 1200 words and data recovery is the keyword that is repeated for 64 times in the entire article. Now, search engines simply determine this by performing following calculation:

Keyword Density = Keyword/ Number of words in Content × 100%

I.e. 64 / 1200 × 100% = 5.3333% Keep your keyword density from 3-6 percent.

Hence, in your entire content the keyword density of “Data Recovery” is 5.3333%

Now, if your keyword density is not well optimized in your content than the horrible situation comes when you write an article on Data Recovery, but you replace the keyword using pronouns often. In such case, the Google finds those particular words that been frequently used in the entire article and suppose it as the keyword. For instance, if the word “Suppose” is highly used than “Data Recovery” search engines are more likely to assume the keyword of the content to be “Suppose”. However, it doesn’t necessarily assumes the entire website working on the keyword “Suppose” because it crawls other essential part of your website like title tag, keyword tag etc, but it is sure that your content won’t appear when anyone use the keyword “Data Recovery” in Google. Thus, maintaining healthy keyword density in your content is very crucial for better visibility in search engines.

  • Keyword Prominence:

Keyword prominence is another important factor in your webpage that helps gaining better visibility in SERP and placement. Keyword prominence is the particular keyword that webmaster and search engine optimizers have given proper attention by implementing them in their title tag, headers, beginning of the paragraph and hyperlinks. These are the important SEO gauge of your website and Google highly depends on these factors to determine the theme of your website.

For instance, if you use the word “Data Recovery” effectively in the title tag, headings and in the beginning of the visible text than you are simply conveying search engines a message that the word used “Data Recovery” is the keyword you are optimizing for. Hence, placing keywords on such parts of your web page should be done wisely.

Furthermore, there are webmasters who knows the impact of keyword prominence in their website, but even after successful implementation, they find low visibility of their page in SERP. For them, I would like to suggest, avoid diluting the keyword prominence by simply tightening their keywords. For example: rather than using “Effective Tips on Data Recovery” you can simply use “Data Recovery Tips” if their keyword is “Data Recovery Tips”.

  • Keyword Proximity:

Keyword proximity is the key addition to SEO optimization and is equally important for effective on-page SEO. Keyword proximity is the close relevance of those keywords that your searchers are more likely to use in search engines. If the majority is of the searchers use “Blog Submission Directory” to find your website than to appear in a better place of your SERP it is very crucial to optimize your web page and content by using such keywords so that there remains nothing to confuse the search engines. For instance, if your searchers use “Blog Submission Directory” for the search and you are using “Great Directory Submission” than you are likely to get behind in SERP.

  • Keyword Frequency:

The concept of keyword frequency is closely related to the theory of keyword density. Your keyword frequency is the weighing of the keyword visibility in your webpage’s specific parts. In keyword frequency, search engines determine the number of times your keyword has appeared in the page and weighs it according to the specific areas of its emergence. However, it does not calculate your keywords as it does with the keyword density. Hence, if your keyword has appeared 64 times in your content than search engines count the keyword frequency as 64 times.

Nevertheless, it is very important for webmasters to understand that implementing high frequency or even the density of your keywords leads to keyword stuffing that is equivalent to spam creating. Thus, search engines are more likely to penalize your website for such act.

Similarly, it is also crucial to make your keyword appear in the important parts of your content. Google and search engines generally reads first 200 hundred lines of your content and not all to determine the page theme. Hence, it is highly suggested to use your major keywords in an organic way in the first 200 lines. However, it does not mean to exclude keywords after 200 lines.

How to Select a Keyword Rich Domain Name?   2 comments

keyword-rich

Selecting a perfect domain name is the part of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and is of course a work of great effort. Besides being a catchy domain name, your domain should also tell more about your services and your goals so that it simply makes search engine optimization easy with the search engines and drive more traffic. An effective domain name can help to brand your website and it can also communicate to your customers about the types of products you sell online.

Hence, we have five major ways of selecting a domain name that can not only help you to select a better domain but can also be a better keywords and key phrases for optimizing your websites and launching PPC campaigns.

How to Select a Keyword Rich Domain Name?

Ø Focus on Your Products and Services:

One of the effective ways of generating a keyword-rich domain is by focusing not in the name and the services that you offer but focusing that particular name which entirely defines your business and yet is a layman term. It is always better to focus on those terms that your customers and clients are more likely to use while searching your services online and the better way of doing this is by thinking like a client and customers.

If you are running a website that sells stainless steels and other parts of hardware accessories then the word hardware is the one single term that defines your entire business. Furthermore, it is also a layman term so the possibility is very high for your customers to use the term “Hardware” to search you in the search engines.

Ø Domain Length and Novelty:

The length of your domain name should always be considered while you choose one for your business. Only the problem with lengthy domain names is the possibility of your customers to forget or mistype them. If you have noticed then even a single error while typing a domain name leads to some other website because there are so many websites with typos that you will hardly land with no results. Hence, it is always suggested to use short and unique names so that it is easy to remember and hard to mistype.

Using dictionary and name generating software can be very helpful for domain name selection. I also suggest you to use free keywords generating software to exactly point out what are the main terms that users use in search engines. This can be a great source for finding out one single unique domain name that will help you from optimizing point of view and your traffic to reach you in easy and short time.

Ø Domain with Location:

Using your location for domain is a widely used idea and is fruitful. If your services are particularly focusing some definite location and area then using a location name is the most because it gives you a huge amount of traffic just because of your domain name because people who seek services from your location are more likely to type your service name and with the location name too. But, this doesn’t mean that if you are not focusing geographically then you should avoid using the location name. Location has always been helpful and is a great way of domain name selection and it helps even more to those online businesses that are geographically concerned.

One of the biggest advantage of using location name is you can easily survive the tough competition just by adding a location name with the service you provide. Furthermore, those people who are more concerned about the region will definitely use the location name as well.

Ø Competitors Websites:

A better place for you to update and enlighten on the domain name can be peeping in your competitor’s website. Simply, try to find out what particular words or phrases that your competitors are using not only in the domain name but also in the Meta keywords tag or in the specific category like: the products and services name. This can help you a lot while choosing a better domain for yourself and it can also give you some clues into what works best with customers and search engines.

A competitor’s website is always a great source of information from a simple domain selection to optimizing your website for traffic and search engines. Thus, it is always better to update yourself from the strategies that your competitors are using and apply some of them to meet the level.

Ø An Arrow for Two Aims:

Many webmasters and web owners are often found to ignore the necessary research while selecting the domain name. But, putting yourself in the research and finding out the list of most relevant keywords or the domain names doesn’t only pays you once because the name that you have selected from your list goes for your domain while other keywords and key phrases will remain as a good researched keywords that you can use for optimizing your website. Furthermore, if you happen to launch a Pay Per Click (PPC) campaign for your web business then these keywords will be very effective and will simply reduce your effort for making another research. Therefore, I strongly suggest you to keep a good research while selecting your domain name and keep those lists safe for future reference so that you won’t have to do it again and again.

Keyword Research Blunders:Your only Reason for Business Failure.   3 comments

Keyword research is the fundamental part of internet marketing and the most efficient yet effective tool that is implemented in  thus many recommended by internet marketing professionals and SEO’s. Conducting keyword research can be very beneficial for any online business to sustain with better traffic and sales.

It is the research of those actual search terms used by web searchers for any particular product and services online. Therefore, proper selection of keywords and its Search Engine Optimization (SEO) implementation is very crucial in an online business.

Keyword Research Blunders and Business Failures.

Awkward-Keywords

Ø Ignoring the SEO Research Value:

The biggest mistake that one can do is to ignore the SEO shield. Keyword research is the most important part that needs your regular updates but often the majority of webmaster ignores and they simply use those keywords and phrase that pops out in their mind. This is completely a wrong way that leads nowhere. Keyword research may be a tedious job in the past but now with the availability of various keyword generating SEO tools it has become easier and more effective. Wordtracker and Google Adwords are some used widely for keyword research.

In the mass, many webmasters thinks that the keywords generated by the tools are always similar to what they were thinking to use but the mistake they do here is to ignore the result because when it comes to result the difference between the same and the similar is very wide. For instance if you think the article you wrote in the “Chinese plates” should have a title “Ancient Chinese plates and the beauty” but when you make the research and the result shows the term “rare Chinese plates” are used five times more than the “ancient Chinese plates” then it will be a wise decision to use the search term that has more number of searches.

Ø Focusing in Single Major SEO Keyword or Phrase:

Focusing in a single keyword or phrase makes your traffic slim. When people search products and services in Google and other major search engines they search with various terms and verities of keywords and focusing in a single major keyword means losing your traffic. Working with the set of keywords and phrases generated by the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) keyword tool can be very beneficial. A major keyword is not what searchers use often but it is the keyword that is the mother of all the keywords that defines your business. Hence, we highly suggest you to use the various forms and not the one single key.

For instance, if your major keyword is “Data Recovery” then it is always suggested to use various forms of this major keyword; using “SSD data recovery” “digital data recovery” is far more better than using single exact keyword “data recovery” everywhere.

Ø Targeting the Least for the Best:

It is often seen that many bad apples of the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) business promise you get the best ranking in a certain keyword that sounds fare but the client doesn’t know that the keyword though relates to his business and services has almost no search from the buyers. This is one way that better ranking is guaranteed by the SEO companies in particular keyword that doesn’t exist in the search. For example: You have a website that works on steel and produce vessels for manufacturing companies and if your site is optimized in the keyword “Material AISI304 steel” and even if you hit the first page and the first rank do you think the you will have visitors? “Material AISI304 steel” is a technical term that even manufacturing companies hardly use (common sense). But, that is why you have least competitors in this keyword and you thought it was the best.

Hence, having least competitors doesn’t mean that you need to optimize in that keyword but you should also focus in the most important thing “Traffic”.

Ø Research Season:

Even researching for your keywords have time and seasons which many webmasters ignores or say don’t realize. Wordtraker is a SEO keyword tool that stores the keyword statistic of past 90 days and not more. And if you are using such SEO tool and own a business that sells Christmas gifts then I think making a keyword research in the month of June will give you no better result because it is obvious that no one search for Christmas items beside the month of December. So, the result had shown by the Wordtracker though accurate yet not actual one. Hence, time factor is also crucial and should be noted before going for any keyword research for your online business.

Ø SEO Keywords Periodical Review:

Periodical review is very important and is one thing that majority of webmasters are lazy at. Your buyers are different and the search term that they use to find your products varies too. Everyday there is a new search and the new term are used and sometimes some other keywords gain more popularity then that which was powerful couple of weeks ago. For example: if a Nokia mobile phone dealer optimizes his site in the keyword Nokia 5200 and then makes no research then do you think after 6 months people will use that search term? NO! and this is because in six months there will be new Nokia cell phone in the market N97 and people wants that not the old ugly one that I carry. Hence, periodical review is very necessary for keyword research and to earn better traffic.

Thus, it is highly suggested to do your SEO keyword research more frequently and with the best tool available and it is always necessary to use various SEO tools so that you can get the exact market scenario and act accordingly. Depending only in a single tool can narrow your research. A keyword research failed always leads to serious business failure because SEO is highly dependent in your keywords and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) focused key phrases.

Long Tail Keywords are the Real Traffic Generators in Search Engines.   5 comments

The only reason to practice Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is to earn better traffic to increase your sales and promote your services online. And based on the consumer’s behavior and their modes of making their hunts in search engines, long tail keywords are proved to be more effective and more natural.

A long tail keyword is a simple theory of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and the web surfers behavior that proves that the practice of long tail keywords can be more fruitful, natural and has possibility for driving real numbers conversions than just swinging visitors. First coined by the Chris Anderson in 2004, he mentioned long tail keywords as a socio- statistical theory which suggests that the combined sales of products in low demand can exceed that of popular products and bestsellers.

Implementing SEO optimized long tail keywords in a mass market retailers like: www.amazon.com, Chris suggested that catering to minority tastes and making low-demand products consistently available will allow businesses to achieve higher profit margins, than if they were to solely focus on high-demand/popular products.

In simple words, SEO optimized long tail keywords are multi-phrase search queries that visitors use for searching particular product and services in a descriptive way. Statistic shows that long tail keywords being low competitive yet are highly targeted, defines those visitors who has specific information about the product and has more probability to buy that those who relay in shorthand keywords.

Here, in the graphical representation, we can see that the keyword “Real Estate” has higher volume of searches and the competition is also very high. In the second keyword “Washington Real Estate” which is three words key, that has very low competition and with low search volume but the seekers are with more possibilities than later. Similarly, in the last phase comes the real long keyword “Queen Anne Seattle Real Estate” that has only 320 search volume with below 100 competitions.

Hence, a long tail keyword suggests you to use fight for those keywords that your buyers are likely to search in the web because it has less competition and the buyers are always authentic.

Some Benefits of using Long tail Keywords:

ü  Long tail keywords has higher conversion rate compared to short term keywords.

ü  Long tail phrases and phrases can help your buyers find exactly what they are looking for.

ü  Long tail phrases can help your website rank more easily and SEO efficiently.

ü  Long tail phrases are more specific so it can be used well in ads and banners and earn better conversions.

ü  Long tail keywords are highly profitable because it has low cost per acquisition and higher conversion rates.

How to Generate Long tail Keywords?

ü  Keyword generating SEO tools or software which is related to Search Engine Optimization (SEO) like: Word Tracker and Google Adwords can be very helpful for generating quality long tail keywords.

ü  Another best way is to do it manually. Studying traffic logs for your products can give you many ideas for generating quality keywords that includes both long tail and short tail. I think performing this kind of search is the most brilliant and natural than others.

ü  Studying competitor’s keywords and using them for your own website can be a smart way.

ü  Placing new keywords that you think you would use to search for your own product (assuming yourself as a buyer) and using them in various ways can be another best way to generate quality long tail keywords.

I don’t mean that using long tail keywords means completely ignoring shorthand keywords. Shorthand keywords are very valuable and they are the keywords that define your product and services to search engines and customers. Using both short and long tail keyword is the best solution for getting better traffic and placement in any search engine and after all keyword is the back bone of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) so it is always better to use both targeted keywords and long tail keywords for your website and blogs.
