CSS is one that is highly being recommended for website design but those web designers who are less aware about SEO and CSS may design better but not providing a easy crawl environment for search engines. Better SEO and Web Design with CSS

css-tips

CSS Pagination for Articles:

It is a well-known fact that Googlebots does not crawl the entire page of your website, especially if the content is long and consists of several paragraphs. Many Search Engine Optimizers assumes that only 200-250 lines are crawled by Googlebots, therefore, it is a wise decision to focus your keywords density and frequency within 250 lines. Furthermore, having a long content in your page is not regarded user-friendly because it involves your users scrolling can at times can be annoying. Therefore, CSS has a solution for you; use CSS pagination.

CSS and Images:

Although, we know that Google is blind and cannot read images, but still some web designers who are not aware of SEO and Google crawling are often found to include images while designing a website because they believe CSS is not enough for better designing. However, CSS gives them a SEO effective solution called Scalable Inman Flash Replacement or SIFP that allows them to generate beautiful custom headlines which is search engine crawlable and officially approved by Google.

Using External CSS:

Using external CSS is highly recommended because the benefits are healthy for your SEO exercise. Implementing external CSS provides easy crawling environment to Google search engines. Similarly, if the website weighs less and without heavy contents even your users are more likely to surf and reduce your websites bouncing rate because website with heavy content makes it slow loading and annoys your users and site visitors. Hence, I suggest you to implement external CSS so that the CSS are not embedded in your page which ultimately makes your page liter and easy crawlable.

Keyword Density:

Keyword density is essential and its one major factor that search engines use to determine the theme of the website. However, useless repetition of the keywords and key-phrases in the website can give you trouble because it is simply keyword spamming and Google do not want that. Thus, in case, if you need to add more keywords than CSS can give you better option with “li” and “ul” tag because search engines doesn’t penalize keyword repetition within such tags. Nevertheless, we are not encouraging keyword stuffing at all.

Absolute Positioning:

Absolute positioning is essential if your website is little complex and it consists of various menus and scripts. One easy and important part of SEO is making your website crawl easy for Google and other search engines. So, in such case, absolute positioning can help you a lot for giving access for such search engines to make easy crawl and easy index; placing your content higher in the page so that Google does not have to crawl the unnecessary codes.

You might want to entertain your users or may be update them with a world breaking news. Whatever is your reason and however you offer; there is always something you expect your visitors to do when they step in. What is it? And how you want them to do? You can’t simply upload an audio that says “Hey! Buy my products… Buy my products” if you have something interesting to sell. So, how do you do this online?

Well, call to action is a powerful button used in landing page to grab the customer’s attention. These buttons are placed in your webpage in such a way that without creating any marketing stress to your visitors you can simply appeal them to act accordingly. But, how you do this is an art. So, in this post I will be discussing about some important ways to practice a healthy yet effective implementation of Call to action buttons in your landing page.

  • Goal:

It is very crucial to find out your goal and it’s not an easy task at all. If you are running a website that sells products and services than it doesn’t mean that you always need a call to action button that helps you to sell your products. Especially, if your website is new than you might want to find out your customers views about the product you is selling or their taste before fully dedicating your energy marketing your services? In such case, you might want to go for poll first.

Similarly, if you are a known brand of your product and have recently created a Facebook page and wants your customers and clients to participate so that you can have a stronger fan base than your call to action button will be something else. Thus, it is very essential to find out what your goal is and what you want your visitors and customers to do when they step in your landing page.

  • Language:

The language you use to direct your web visitors speaks your attitude. So, it is always suggested to use simple and polite language that pleases your visitors. Your message should be short and up to the point so that visitors can understand your call. Use polite words and describe what is there for them but always use these languages around your call to action button because the button itself should speak the exact verb of action like: “Buy Now” “Sign-up Now” “Join Us” etc.

In the image below you can see that how twitter has surround its “Sign Up” button with the description. It is simply describing what is there for its users and why should they sign up. Hence, I strongly suggest you to describe what your users and visitors are going to find within because that makes your website more user-friendly and it also helps to attract your visitors attention.

  • Design and Color:

Your website design and the background color plays very important role and is one important reason why often visitors avoids your purpose even after knowing what you are asking them to do. So, it is always better to use attractive and unique designs to your landing page. But, your extra emphasis should be given to your call to action button and use bright color and bold fonts so that in the entire page you leave a no chance for your visitors to miss you call.

The image below is from the Facebook and you can see that how they are using a light background so that they the dark text can be trouble free to read and the main call to action button is green which distinctive and easy to catch the eyes of the visitors.

  • Size:

Size is another important factor for launching an effective call to action button in your landing page. Your main focus is to make your call to action button notice among your visitors and web traffic so it is better to keep the size of your button of good one so that they get noticed. Using small call to action buttons increases the risk of being unnoticed and is hardly found appealing. So, use bigger buttons that suits your web page layouts and matches with all other elements of your page.

The image below is from download.cnet and in the entire page something that catches your eye is the download button that his big and uniquely designed. You can also see the font “Download Now” which is bigger than any other element of the page which no doubt catches the eyes of your visitors and customers.

  • Position:

Position is the key and something that if done wrongly can simply create loss of your time and effort of designing your landing page and reason to build an appealing call to action button. So, always place your button where the viewer’s eyes are more certain to hit. You can design and even ask your co-workers to help you find an appropriate place because what you see more obvious might not be the same with the other people.

The following image is from twitter and in the entire landing page you can see that how twitter has placed its call to to action button. The button is placed on the right hand side of the page entirely giving a unique color and the button of the page looks like a banner in the page. So, it no doubt catches the users eye and they simply by seeing can know their next step in the page.

site_maintenance-261x300

Content Management System (CMS) is widely used by various websites and blogs. Even the free blogging platform for bloggers like WordPress are build with CMS because of its high flexibility over content management from multiple authors around the world. But, beside all that there are some serious disadvantages of CMS that many people are not aware of and if anyone is planning to launch his/her website than it is better to find out some demerits of CMS so that you can decide whether it worthy of your effort, finance and time or not?

Disadvantages of Using Content Management System (CMS)

Limited Flexibility:

In CMS the designing flexibility is limited and you have to choose between the templates because CMS is completely based on templates design and it simply cuts the creativity of using your own designs and its uniqueness. While designing with CMS you have to choose between these templates so for those who want to use their own creativity for designing their website CMS cannot make them enough credibility.

CMS Files:

CMS contains numerous files and working with so many files can simply lead to errors and frustration. It has been often seen that working with CMS needs a good experience even for web owners who if wants to edit his/her website because even slotting images of large size can alter the design and to find a simple error can consume hours. The case can be more difficult if there lacks backups.

SEO Difficulty:

Search-Engine-Optimization (SEO) is crucial and with CMS there are many difficulties for SEO promotion. CMS being dynamically generated it results to a dynamic URL which is SEO unfriendly and should be restructured if not search engines will find difficulty crawling your website. Similarly, important factors of SEO like Meta tags are also left out in CMS websites and frequent errors of duplicate content can simply hamper your SEO efforts.

Slow Loading Website:

The CMS websites being a database driven and containing numerous pages it can take longer time to load and processed by the server which can ultimately increase the bouncing rate of your website and cut down your conversions. If your server is slow than the loading issue can be terrible and frustrating for your online business. Slow loading websites being exceedingly ignored by the web visitors using CMS you also have the risk of low traffic visit to your website and lest conversions. All these issues can simply kill your SEO efforts because websites with high bouncing rates have least chance to rank better in search engines.

Expensive Hosting and Design:cms-icon

CMS hosting is quite expensive for reliable hosting because with CMS you should have proper technical support, proper management of shared hosting resources and server maintenance. And if you are very serious about your website then it is suggested to hire a qualified technician to maintain and upgrade the software and hardware. Similarly, CMS websites are expensive in designs when compared to static websites. CMS websites requires extensive testing to figure out the errors, your browser compatibility and screen resolution. Hence, CMS websites are expensive to launch and even to maintain for a long run of your online business.

SEO Silo: Your Ultimate SEO Tool to Boost Your Websites and Blogs Ranking II   3 comments

In our last post we discussed about SEO silo and its benefits for your website and blogs. Siloing is simply theming your website and blogs in such a way that search engines when visit your websites they can clearly see what you are offering and your field of expertise. Many SEO’s and of course including me believes that SEO Siloing is an advance and the crucial Search Engine Optimization technique to boost your rankings in Google and other major search engines but unfortunately is also one highly ignored subject that is often the reason for your SEO campaign and online marketing to fail even after investing your sincere effort, time and money into your e-business. Hence, in today’s post, I will be talking about the types of Silo’s and how they are done.

SEO Silo Types:

Generally, silos are of two types which are widely used by SEO’s and recommended.

ü Physical Directory Silo.

toolbox-icon

ü Virtual Silo.

Physical Directory Silo and Virtual Silo are both highly effective Silo types proposed in Search Engine Optimization because it simply creates a clean environment in your website and blogs for search engines to crawl and visit every corner of your website without any hindrances and confusion and it also true with your visitors. With a confused visitors you cannot expect a frequent visit neither you can expect better conversions. Similarly, with a confused crawl of search engine robots you cannot expect better ranking and placement in SERP.

Thus, Siloing is very essential for any website or blogs and with the mentioned Siloing types and its process I hope you will be able to shut down all your loop holes of your website and implement effective SEO in your e-business.

Ø Physical Directory Silo:

Directory Siloing is the simple method of themeing your website under a definite grouping and managing content of one major heading under one directory and managing other in its belonging directory. So, the visitors and search engines can easily find them without any hassle. Your content can be anything like your text files, audios, videos etc.

For instance, if your website sells guitar then all you have to do is to create a directory called “Fender Guitars” and under that directory you will be listing all the necessary contents that relates to Fender guitar. After this, you will be creating another directory for “Les Paul Guitar” and same as above you should place all the necessary content that relates to les Paul guitar. Now, when the search engines will crawl your website it will crawl your first directory where it can find only the contents related to Fender Guitar and nothing else and even your visitors will find everything well managed in one directory so it simply cuts the hassle of looking same thing in other places of your website.

Now, when the web suffers makes the query of Fender Guitar the search engines will simply produce your Fender guitar directory at first because it thinks that the directory of your website contains so many files related to Fender guitar and without any dilutes that it should be the best answer to the searchers query. Furthermore, if your competitor has poor Silo and diluted one then you will simply pop out before his/her website because you stand strong with your subject and with no dilutes.

This is also one strong reason why a website with 4/10 page ranks stands on the 4th page of Google SERP while the page with 3/10 appears in the first page. Search engines doesn’t always calculates your website contents value with the page rank you have got but the information and its management because page rank doesn’t satisfies the searchers query but a relevant content will.

But, what if you want to or need to link between these two different directories? How can that be done without diluting the content for search engines and visitors?

Now, to solve that problem, let us assume that you want to link these two directories because a page under fender guitar directory talks about the les Paul guitar makings because they are two great guitars and use by same artist Jimmy Page. The only way to link between these two completely different directories without diluting the theme of your website to the search engines is linking fender guitar’s page (that particular page) to the les Paul guitar landing page.

So, in this way search engines will simply know the clear theme of your website and nothing diluted even if linked from one directory to another. This is one of the best ways of Siloing your website for search engines and even for users and every SEO’s refers when it comes to smooth crawling of search engine spiders.

Remember: Your each directory needs at least five written text content to support that particular directory. It’s simply like creating a strong base for that directory. If you don’t have one means you are simply making a tower with a weak base and you there is always the risk of crumbling down. Similarly, it’s very important that you don’t go too deep with the links but create every page just two to three clicks away from the main landing page. SEO’s believe that linking too deep means the pages that are listed below will have less value in search engines so don’t practice such.

4111011466_07e8d673f4_o

Virtual Silo:

Virtual Silo is another important way of siloing your website to boost your SEO efforts and is very similar to the directory silo. The only reason why these two different siloing practices vary from one another is because in directory silo you will be interacting with physical directories of your website and moving one files to another directory where it belongs. But, in virtual you do nothing but link one page to another that lies in the same directory.

In virtual SEO Siloing all the content of your website will be in one directory but what you do here is to link all the contents with its relevant pages and not something that has nothing to do with the linking content.

For instance, you will keep all the contents of Fender guitar and Les Paul guitar in one directory where there are subcategories and other subpages that holds the information about both Fender guitar and Les Paul so here you will simply link Les Paul guitar content to all the other contents that holds the information of Les Paul guitar and not even a single file that talks about Fender guitar. And in the same way you will be linking all the Fender guitar contents to all other files that talks about fender and not les Paul. All this linking will be done under one single directory. And finally, the Fender guitar linked content will be linking to the Fender content landing page and Les Paul guitar linked content will be linking to the Les Paul guitar landing page.

Now, let us suppose that you need to link a content of Fender guitar with the content of Les Paul guitar now in this case what you not going to do is link these two different content with one another directly rather you will simply link that Fender guitar content page to the landing page of Les Paul guitar. In this way virtual Siloing will hugely help your SEO efforts and boost your ranking and placements.

I usually suggest directory Siloing if you are just launching a new website because directory Siloing can help you make your works easy and search any particular content because you already know the folder by its name. But, if you have a launched website with lots of files and contents that are mixed and unorganized than making directory and separating them will be the job hassle. Thus, virtual Siloing will be your easy SEO Siloing technique.

I hope this post will successfully help you to have a clear idea of SEO effective Siloing process for your website and cuts all the confusion of Siloing.

SEO Silo: Your Ultimate SEO Tool to Boost Your Websites and Blogs Ranking I   1 comment

Google-image

Being an SEO and dealing with various websites that serves various products and services online can really help you know how majority of websites has been created, what their motives are, how they are presenting themselves and why they are struggling with low conversion rate or to rank better in SERP.

Thus, after going through so many websites I can say that there are thousands of webmasters who are in the stone age of online marketing knows nothing about Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Google ranking rather they are happy to see their websites in Google not with their keyword but performing a domain search. Hundreds more who knows yet their implementation of SEO is poor and often contains flashy websites or piles of broken links. Only few websites are well organized and are really fighting for the first place.

So, if you are among that little who knows about SEO and its need in an online business but not all SEO bolts are in your hands then in this post I will give one rare but very effective technique that can really boost your search engine placement.

Ø SEO Siloing:

SEO Siloing is considered to be a vital and a very powerful SEO technique to boost your visibility and ranking in Google or any other search engines. Siloing generally means giving a solid structure to your website by managing all its contents, categories and links so that search engines can easily understand the core motive and the theme of your website. Siloing may first appeal as a simple SEO workout and a trouble-free categorization but in reality it is an advance Search Engine Optimization (SEO) technique yet a very cautious job.

When you launch your website no wonder you have got something in your mind and that you want to bring that product or services online for the world. But, your product or services can have numbers of verities and need categorization depending on its flavors, taste, colors or offers. For instance, if you are launching a website that simply sells guitars than even those guitars needs categorization depending whether it’s hollow guitar or acoustic guitar or the electric one.

So, Siloing means simply making partitions of your website that each partition strongly stands for what it offers and search engines can simply rank your website whenever searchers use any of the keywords that belong to your business and you can rank high in any of those key terms.

If you don’t have such strong partition of your website and have placed everything haphazardly then with your visitors even the search engines will get confused that what you really want to offer and what expertise your website has on what products and services.

Hence, Siloing simply helps your single website to pop out in better search engine placement in various keywords and key phrases because well partition of your website depending on your products and services has given the search engines the basic theme and expertise of your website.

Ø Benefits of SEO Siloing:

ü Search Engine Friendly Website:

Siloing simply makes your website search engine friendly and that is very crucial because it’s the search engines they determines your SERP placements. Silo’s simply helps search engines to understand the clear theme of your website and can easily read all the content to index you in your keywords and key phrases without any hindrances. It helps to boost your Search Engine Optimization (SEO) efforts.

ü User Friendly Website:

Siloing makes your website user friendly and truly helps your users to know where to find particular products and your offered services. Siloing cuts the confusion and the tension of searching any particular item in your website. It simply encourages your visitors to come back again and reduces the bouncing rates of your website which is very crucial for better SEO results.

ü Illustrates Your Expertise:

Managing content in one particular directory and other in another directory will build the strong base of your website and gives robust and expert image of your website to the search engines. This simply provides your website to have a better placement because your expertise in the subject matter can provide better information to the search engine users.

ü Inbound Links:

When the directories and pages of the website focus on one specific topic then it makes you easy to focus on your inbound links and the particular content that it deserves. It will also reduce the worries of mistyping links and creating broken links to your website.
